When faced with a new life in Australia, people from refugee and humanitarian backgrounds are often isolated, unsure where to turn or what support is available. Many of the people or organisations they meet do not come from the same community and it is so much harder to feel safe reaching out for help.
This is how Ashiana Humanitarian Network is different.
Led by the community of current and former refugees and humanitarian entrants in Australia, Ashiana is a friendly, familiar and trusted face, offering supported referrals to providers as well as connections to established members of the refugee and humanitarian community in Australia. Understanding the cultural context of those whom we support, Ashiana builds bridges to a peaceful home in Australia. Ashiana also helps service providers understand how best to work with people from refugee and humanitarian backgrounds, and to understand their lived experiences.
With your support, we can continue to help those from refugee and humanitarian backgrounds to feel seen and supported.
As a registered charity and public benevolent institution, every dollar you donate is tax deductible.
We hope you will consider supporting our work by donating to our appeal via GiveNow.
Our recent successes include:
– community outreach work with community members and with organisations who support refugees and humanitarian entrants
– a seminar on migration pathways for refugees and humanitarian entrants, including alternative pathways via skilled visas

– supporting local refugee artist, Halima Mozaffari, launch her first solo exhibition in Western Australia in collaboration with North Metropolitan TAFE
– a workshop in support of refugee and humanitarian women celebrating their culture and resilience, and introducing them to support pathways, sponsored by the WA Department of Communities and supported by Cyril Jackson Senior Campus, with two further workshops planned, addressing:
a. economic independence on 3 August 2024 and
b. security, justice and wellbeing in around October 2024.
