Ashiana Humanitarian Network is proud to support local refugee artist, Halima Mozaffari, in her first Australian solo exhibition at the Shopfront Gallery, North Metropolitan TAFE in Northbridge from 17-19 April 2024.

Halima Mozaffari is a refugee from Afghanistan and she will be showing a series of works from her portrait series on Afghani women and children and landscapes of her new home, Perth. Halima’s exhibition provides a glimpse into the work of a new arrival and the interests that have prompted the artist to make these works on paper in her journey to find a new home.

After meeting with Halima in 2023 and encouraging her to join Ashiana, the team learned of her experience working as an artist overseas and were eager to support her to identify opportunities for her to showcase her work and build connections in the Perth art world. Our thanks go to North Metropolitan TAFE for their support in making this exhibition a reality.

To mark this occasion, Ashiana will be hosting a ‘Meet the Artist’ event open to the public and supporters of Ashiana on the evening of Friday, 19 April 2024 from 4-6:30pm at the gallery in collaboration with North Metropolitan TAFE. It will be a wonderful opportunity to meet Halima and discuss her work and her hopes for the future.

Details of the free event and how to register can be found in the flyer below.

We hope you can join us and show your support.
